LET Teams up With Royal Thai Navy Fleet to Fight Plastic Pollution.

In a remarkable display of dedication to environmental conservation, LET teamed up with the Royal Thai Navy Fleet to confront the pressing issue of plastic pollution.

On the 9th of June 2023, 120 passionate LET colleagues and 20 naval officers from the Thai Navy gathered at Dongtan Beach, nestled within the Royal Thai Navy Fleet base in Sattahip, Chonburi. Their mission was nothing short of monumental.

This collaborative event was inspired by the global observance of World Environment Day, which took place just a few days earlier on the 5th of June, with this year’s theme being #BeatPlasticPollution. Recognising the urgency of the situation, LET and the Royal Thai Navy Fleet saw an opportunity to make a substantial impact on society while revitalising the marine environment.

Dongtan Beach, known for its natural splendor, had fallen victim to the detrimental effects of plastic waste. A substantial amount of plastic debris had become deeply entrenched in the sandy shores, posing a significant challenge for effective cleanup. Armed with shovels and an unwavering commitment to the cause, LET colleagues and naval officers embarked on a meticulous mission.

The scope of this cleanup effort was truly comprehensive. The dedicated team diligently collected an array of discarded items, ranging from coffee straws and plastic bags to drinking water bottles, plastic cups, snack wrappers, and other forms of plastic waste. Each piece was carefully removed from its sandy cocoon to ensure a thorough and efficient collection process.

By extracting these hazardous materials from Dongtan Beach, the collaborative endeavor had a noble set of goals in mind. Their primary aim was to prevent harm to marine animals, who often mistake plastic debris for food, with devastating consequences. Additionally, the removal of plastic waste was vital to maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the beach, thus enhancing its appeal to visitors and tourists.

This remarkable joint effort not only serves as a testament to the power of collective action but also reinforces the message that, together, we can beat plastic pollution and protect the precious beauty of our natural world.
