On 16 July, the LET CSR team had the privilege of visiting the Karunyawet Home for Persons with Disabilities in Chonburi, as part of their ongoing commitment to community engagement and social inclusion. This visit provided a valuable opportunity not only to donate essential supplies but also to gain deeper insight into the institution’s history, daily operations, and the challenges faced by its staff and residents.

The Karunyawet Home is a critical care facility in Chonburi, dedicated to improving the quality of life for women with physical and intellectual disabilities. It currently supports approximately 400 residents, all aged 18 and above, by providing housing, medical care, vocational training, employment opportunities, and social reintegration programmes. The institution also acts as an educational resource, sharing expertise in physical and occupational therapy and social work, while regularly publishing reports to promote transparency and raise public awareness.

For this outreach initiative, the LET team coordinated a donation of essential goods, guided by a detailed list of the home’s current needs. In addition to delivering supplies, the team observed daily activities and engaged with both residents and staff—gaining first-hand insight into the operational challenges and emotional resilience of the community.

The visit shed light on the unique challenges faced by women with disabilities, who often experience “double discrimination” due to both gender and disability. Many struggle with limited access to education, healthcare, and employment—particularly in rural areas—leading to reduced independence and opportunities. The Karunyawet Home plays a vital role in addressing these issues, offering care, support, and hope for its residents.
