In the run-up to Christmas, colleagues from Lucy Group came together across multiple locations to spread festive joy to children both locally and overseas. Teams from Lucy Group Oxford, Lucy Real Estate, Lucy Electric in Thame, and Lucy Electric South Africa collaborated on this heartfelt initiative for the second consecutive year, strengthening connections between schools, offices, and communities across continents.
The project began at St Joseph’s School in Thame, where pupils enthusiastically took part in creating something meaningful for children they had never met. With Christmas music playing and festive treats to enjoy, the students designed and wrote 100 personalised, colourful Christmas cards, each filled with warmth and goodwill.
At the same time, colleagues in Oxford and Thame prepared 100 Christmas gift boxes, with 50 assembled at each location. These boxes were thoughtfully packed with toys, games, and the handmade cards from the pupils. Working side by side, colleagues carefully selected items and added finishing touches to ensure every parcel conveyed a sense of care, kindness, and celebration.
Once completed, the Christmas boxes were distributed across Lucy locations and the wider community:
-
50 boxes were delivered by colleagues at the Johannesburg office to children living on the streets and in rural areas, whose families are unable to afford Christmas gifts.
-
50 boxes were sent to the Cape Town office and shared between Hermanus Court, Grabouw Court, and Caledon Court. Magistrates distributed the gifts to children being removed from unsafe homes—many of whom may have received their very first Christmas present through this initiative.
-
Some boxes travelled even further to Mpilisweni Hospital in Sterkspruit, Eastern Cape, bringing festive cheer to patients and uplifting spirits throughout the hospital.
-
Additional boxes were delivered to Red Cross Children’s Hospital, offering comfort and joy to young patients during the festive season.
Through creativity, collaboration, and a shared commitment to making Christmas brighter for children facing challenging circumstances, colleagues across Lucy Group helped extend kindness far beyond their own communities.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed from Lucy Group, Lucy Real Estate, and LEUK particularly the shipping and stores teams, whose outstanding practical support made this initiative possible. Special thanks also go to colleagues in Lucy Electric South Africa who personally delivered the boxes to children in need.
