Barry joined Lucy Electric UK in April 2013 as After Sales Support Manager and is currently working as Development and Training Manager based in Dubai.
Barry had previous experience working with Lucy Electric products through ones of the company’s distributors in South Africa. This meant he had extensive knowledge of the company and products from field experience in many different industries. After leaving the distributor to seek further opportunities, joining Lucy was a natural move for him.
A typical day would involve searching for new and innovative ways to deliver training to customers and internal employees. Barry also supports customers in specific application solutions in the field through training and actual site visits.
Barry most enjoys the opportunity to share knowledge and his experience with customers and colleagues.
Having previously worked as a Business Development Manager and Sales Manager across Sub Saharan Africa, all within the switchgear industry, his roles have varied; from Sales, then After Sales Support, to now looking after the technical training and development of our teams and customers.
Barry’s role has developed and shaped into what it is now after he identified a need for support during his sales career. From developing business sales to fixing site problems during installations, he now trains customers and employees on how to deal with all site issues that might occur during installation, and then ongoing maintenance of the solutions. His roles have seen him support various customers and businesses from Australia and the Far East, to Middle East, Africa and Europe.
Outside of work, Barry enjoys off-roading and deep sea fishing. If he could improve a skill at work, he’d like to complete his Masters in Training.
